Tools you can switch on today

All provincially licensed operators are required to offer control tools in the account settings [VERIFICAR exact scope by regulator]. The ones worth knowing:

Switch the limits on before you start, not after a bad run. Lowering a limit is immediate; raising it has a waiting period precisely so that the decision is not impulsive.

Warning signs

• You bet to win back what you lost.
• You gamble with money meant for bills, rent or family.
• You borrow or sell things to bet.
• You lie about how much you gamble or how much you lost.
• You feel anxious or irritable when you cannot play.
• Gambling is no longer fun and you keep playing anyway.

Two or more of these signs, sustained over time, are a reason to talk to someone and ask for help. You do not need to "hit rock bottom" first.

Where to get help in Argentina

The Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos (the Province of Buenos Aires lottery and casino institute) publishes a helpline and a self-exclusion register for operators licensed in the province. • Jugadores Anónimos Argentina (Gamblers Anonymous). Free mutual-support groups, in person and online, in various cities across the country. Phone and official website: [VERIFICAR].
• Regulators in other provinces. Lotería de Córdoba, the IPJyC in Mendoza, the IJAN in Neuquén and the bodies of the other provinces with a regulated market publish their own responsible gambling resources. We are adding them to each province's page as we confirm them [VERIFICAR].
• Public health services. Public hospitals and provincial mental health centres treat gambling addiction like any other addiction; the first step can be your GP or the nearest mental health emergency service.

What regulation requires of operators

Provincially licensed operators have specific responsible gambling obligations, which vary by regulator [VERIFICAR details by jurisdiction]:

• Verify identity and legal age with a DNI (national identity document) before allowing the first deposit.
• Offer deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion from the account.
• Show warning notices in advertising; since August 2026 Resolución 271/2026 allows the notices required by the provincial or Buenos Aires City regulator to also satisfy the national requirement, provided they meet the visibility, placement, duration and size rules [VERIFICAR].
• In Buenos Aires City, since September 2026, check in real time when you sign up that you are not on the public register of child-support debtors; if you are, you cannot bet online [VERIFICAR rule].
