Online casinos in Argentina, September 2026: Resolución 271/2026 on advertising and the Buenos Aires City ban for child-support debtors
Two changes in two months: Resolución 271/2026 (6 August) merges the national and provincial warning notices in online betting ads, and since September Buenos Aires City has barred registered child-support debtors from betting online. What each rule says and who it affects.

What happened
In under two months there were two regulatory changes that directly affect anyone playing at an online casino from Argentina. Neither changes the underlying principle, which stays the same: online gambling is regulated by each province, and only operators licensed in your province are authorised. But both change specific things.
1. Resolución 271/2026: a single warning notice
On 6 August 2026 the Ministry of Economy (Ministerio de Economía) published Resolución 271/2026 in the Boletín Oficial (Argentina's official gazette). It amends the rules on the mandatory warning notices in online betting advertising.
Until now, an operator with a provincial licence had to include in every ad the notice required by national rules and, on top of that, the one required by its provincial or Buenos Aires City regulator. In practice that meant two similar texts competing for the same space on screen. The resolution establishes that:
- The notices required by the provincial regulator or by LOTBA (the Buenos Aires City lottery regulator) can also satisfy the national requirement, as long as they meet the national standards on visibility, placement, duration and size.
- Provincial regulators can sign up to the national notice regime, so that a single warning covers both requirements.
- Warnings must still respect the safe zones of the screen and a minimum time on screen in any audiovisual piece [VERIFICAR exact parameters].
It is worth reading carefully: this is a deduplication of overlapping warnings, not a relaxation. The duty to warn remains, the size and duration rules remain, and the provinces still have the final word on advertising within their territory. For players, the visible effect is that ads from licensed operators should show one clear notice instead of two crammed together. An ad with no notice at all is still a red flag: operators without a provincial licence are not bound by either rule and usually comply with neither. 2. Buenos Aires City: no online betting for child-support debtors
Since September 2026, people listed on the public register of child-support debtors in Buenos Aires City cannot bet online. The rule, announced by the City government on 18 September, requires platforms licensed by LOTBA to check the register in real time at sign-up and to reject the account of anyone who appears on it [VERIFICAR rule and number].
It is a verifiable obligation: in every review of an operator with a Buenos Aires City licence we check, with a real account, whether the control runs at sign-up [VERIFICAR scope for accounts already open].
Three clarifications:
- It applies to LOTBA's jurisdiction. It is a Buenos Aires City rule. Platforms licensed by the IPLyC (the Province of Buenos Aires lottery and casino institute) or by other provinces follow whatever their own regulator says, and those regulators have no equivalent rule today [VERIFICAR]. - It only reaches licensed operators. A site without a provincial licence checks no register, just as it does not verify age or address. A casino that lets you sign up without checks is not doing you a favour: it is proof that nobody in Argentina regulates it.
- DNI verification is what makes the match possible. That is why licensed operators ask for your DNI (national identity document) and address when you sign up and do not let you deposit until they are validated.
What has not changed
- There is no national licence. Neither rule creates a national permit or authorises an operator to take bets outside the provinces where it is licensed.
- A law on paper is still not an open market. Several provinces have passed a law but have no operator taking bets yet; in the province guide we distinguish "regulated and live" from "regulated, not launched" and from "under debate".
- Operators without a provincial licence are still not authorised. In our ranking they are marked "without a provincial licence" and we do not recommend them to readers in Argentina.
